The Leaves Turned Green 葉子綠了
Carla always accompanied her husband when he came for acupuncture. Her husband had pain in the low back, hips, legs, knees, and feet.
One day when her husband was lying on the table receiving acupuncture, Carla said, “I have had a chest pain for a long time. The pain has migrated to the muscles and ribs of the back. I went to see a person specializing in spinal adjustment and he told me there was something wrong with my ribs. To relieve the chest pain, the ribs needed adjustment.” She did not believe there was anything wrong with her ribs, so she stopped visiting him. Without taking any further actions, her pain in the chest and the upper back (all on the right side) was constantly hurting her to the point she could not focus on her work.
She asked about the adjustment of the ribs. After palpating her inflicted area of the ribs, I told her, “If you just sit there still, I can use just a few needles to resolve the whole thing for you, free of charge.” She was a little suspicious but accepted my offer. While sitting on the couch waiting for her husband, she received a free treatment. Four needles were used, one on the hand, one on the leg, and the other two on the foot. After her husband’s session ended, they left together. Somehow, I did not ask her how she felt after the acupuncture.
A few weeks later, she came back again with her husband. It was early spring in the year. She told me, “You know, usually when you go out of the room, you just go out. But that day, after the needling, when I went out, I saw the leaves were growing and turning green, and I heard the birds were chirping.”
She had been in such a pain in the past that she couldn’t care less if it was sunny or gloomy. After one session with 4 acupuncture needles, she was able to feel the change of seasons. Up until the end of the year when her husband ended his treatments, there had been no rebound of the pain in the chest and the back.
